Description
OLAO is committed to preventing and responding to violence, neglect, and abuse affecting women and people living with disabilities, placing them at the forefront of protection and care interventions.
Many women and people living with disabilities experience long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments which, when combined with social and structural barriers, expose them to heightened risks of violence, exclusion, and neglect. Through this project, OLAO seeks to restore dignity, safety, and well-being by providing supportive services that enable them to live healthy, secure, and fulfilling lives and to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
Within the limits of available resources, OLAO has established two community-based homecare centres dedicated to supporting women and people living with disabilities. These centres provide care, psychosocial support, protection, and referral services aimed at reducing vulnerability to violence and abuse.
OLAO remains firmly committed to improving the living conditions of women and people with disabilities, recognising the compounded risks of violence and discrimination they face. This programme promotes protection, inclusion, and participation, while strengthening self-reliance, leadership, and life-skills development. In line with the Prevention and Response to Violence Against Women, the initiative empowers women and women with disabilities to take an active role in their own development and in advancing gender equality within their communities.
